Poetry..............

Sonet LXXXI - Pablo Neruda

And now you're mine. Rest with your dream in my dream.
Love and pain and work should all sleep now.
The night turns on its invisible wheels,
And you are pure beside me as a sleeping amber.

No one else, Love, will sleep in my dreams. You will go.
We will go together, over the waters of time.
No one else will travel through the shadows with me,
Only you, evergreen, ever sun, ever moon.

Your hands have already opened their delicate fists
And let their soft drifting signs drop away; your eyes closed like two gray
Wings, and I move

After, following the folding water you carry, that carries
Me away. The night, the world, the wind spin out their destiny.
Without you, I am your dream, only that, and that is all.

Gandhi, Elsa and Fred

I don't know where to begin... I watched two incredible movies between yesterday and today. My soul is still captured in the emotions provoked by them.

When I finished watching Gandhi, I was so overwhelmed by the intensity of his life and his message. It is a true story and yet I knew so few details about his life and his work as a political and spiritual leader. I always get fascinated by these great real-life heroes, who dedicate their lives for a cause, who can change the course of humanity, who can actually die for it. It makes me proud to be human. It makes me wonder how I can become a better person, more generous, more selfless, more in touch with the things that REALLY matter in life.

And then I come across Elsa and Fred, a Spanish movie from 2005 which had for years been one of my choices at the corner dvd store but for strange reason was always left behind... But as my friend Laco says "there are no coincidences". Perhaps this was the time for me to watch it. I have been so cynical about some things in life lately. By being cynical I don't mean that I am unhappy, no, not all. It means that after the "big 2005 crash" I'm still collecting the pieces of the damage. And I'll keep collecting them, one by one, for as long as it takes. Life is too damn good to be spent without making the most of it. And Elsa and Fred came to tell me that no matter how long it takes, our dreams can come true. maybe they won't be exactly as we dreamed of, maybe we won't be as young as we thought, but they can happen. A lovely movie... beautiful acting, it made me laugh and cry. Minnie - my cat - like it, too. We always watch movies together!

Gandhi was the true story of an amazing man. "An eye for an eye makes the world go blind"

Elsa and Fred is a fictional movie about people just like you and me. "Quién va a sospechar de un par de viejitos inofensivos?"

I strongly recommend them. Two thumbs up!
